Thankful
We all move so quickly and in the blink of an eye life changes. This past August my oldest son went to boarding school, the same school his father attended , and life changed. Now there are three of us at home and two dogs. Children grow up, parents grow up, and life moves on.
Yesterday I went to a client’s funeral who lived six weeks after being diagnosed with brain cancer. I am thankful for some time we spent together in early September before she was diagnosed. After we met about some changes she wanted to make in her bedroom we had some intense conversations about life. I am so glad she called and we had that time together. I had not seen her in years. It was our goodbye, and a fabulous one. She was a beautiful woman and I will miss her voice and laughter.
I woke this morning to the sound of rain. My husband is at work, my youngest son is in a deer stand, and my oldest son is getting much needed sleep as he adjusts to dorm life. I have a desk full of work and I am thankful for all of these things.
Thanksgiving is almost here and I am setting the table with my mother in law’s porcelain, silver, and crystal. After many generations of family gatherings this is the first time I will be selecting all of the serving pieces for our family. I hope the ladies in heaven before me are pleased. Life changes, we grow up and we teach our children all that we know to be happy. I am thankful for what I have learned from the people that I love. I am still in bed with my sweet Jack Russell sleeping on my husband’s pillow and I am thankful for that… as well as the sound of raindrops.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Mixing you,
